It is 40 years ago this week since Ceefax was introduced to its TV audience, and to mark the aniversary we would like to hear about your very own teletext memories

Ceefax succumbed to the digital switchover nearly two years ago, but the world’s first teletext service is still remembered fondly by the slightly older TV generation. For 38 years it provided vital information to passionate current affairs readers and sports fans alike. Tuesday marks what would have been Ceefax’s 40th birthday and is a perfect opportunity to hear about your own teletext memories and what you miss the most about the services of the past.

You might have been one of many sports fans frantically pressing 302 and 316 on your remote for the latest football news and scores on a Saturday afternoon. As a music fan you might have been more excited about the weekly reviews and end of year polls found on ITV’s Planet Sound. Or maybe you were keen to improve your general knowledge with Bamboozle! in Channel 4’s ‘Fun & Games’ category. Whichever page number stirs up teletext memories for you, we would like to hear about them.

Share your stories by clicking on one of the blue ‘contribute’ buttons or, if you’re out and about, you can download the GuardianWitness app on your smartphone. Please bear in mind that we need parental permission for photos which include anyone under 16, so do make that explicit in the text when you submit them.
